The Cause for Canonization

November 10, 1989, the Superior General suggested a sister as Postulator for the cause for canonization of of Marie-Elisabeth Turgeon to His Grace Gilles Ouellet, Archbishop of Rimouski, who promptly approved the choice. This was the first step in the long process of recognizing the sainthood of this Servant of God. The following are other steps that have taken place since:

- November 15, 1990 Decree opening the canonical inquiry
- August 17, 1991 Decree instituting the Historical Commission
- December 9, 1991 Signing of the NIHIL OBSTAT decree in Rome
- February 8, 1994 Presentation of the report of the Historical Commission to His Grace Bertrand Blanchet
- March 7-9, 1994 The Diocesan Proceedings pertaining to the notable holiness and virtues of the person
- March 18, 1999 The POSITIO sent to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints
- November 27, 2001 The Congress of Historians held in Rome: the vota are positive

"Rayonnement" Collection

The aim of the publications of the collection "Rayonnement" is to share the research done by the members of the Historical Commission in view of the Report presented to the Archbishop of the Diocese for the Inquiry on the notable holiness of the Servant of God. Each booklet treats a specific aspect of the personality and the spirituality of Elisabeth Turgeon with the objective of making her known, loved and given hommage through prayer.
