Lower North Shore/Labrador

In 1955, the mission was notably expanded when sisters were sent to Saint Augustin, on the Lower North Shore. This poor and isolated region was very much like the first missions where the Sisters of the "Petites-Écoles" dared and risked to go. The population was scattered over large areas. The winter climate was harsh and the means of communication almost non-existent.

Missionaries at heart and by their different commitments, the sisters drew from their charism, the tender and caring love that answered the Love of Jesus and Mary for the children who responded.

For years having been a significant presence in the schools and parishes of the area, today the Sisters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary are less numerous in this part of the country. Yet we find them with young people, in schools, pastoral and diocesan services. Co-members are present on the Coast, in solidarity with the Congregation's mission of Christian education.
