Theme: Charity,  a true expression of our faith in Jesus Christ as based on 1 Corinthians 13, 1-13 ( presented by Marie Sylvie MENGOLO, Bordeaux-Cartierville)

Beloved in Christ,

love.jpgAt the time when, Claire and I made an important commitment as Associates to the Community of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, we wanted it to be a sign of our availability to Christ and His Church. To help us live thus through meditation, I wanted us to consider the theme of charity as an honest expression of our faith in Jesus Christ according to the marvelous hymn of love by St. Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians 13, 1-13. St. Paul helps us discern what is central to the love we live. When we are called upon to believe, support, hope and serve, we are at the very center of true human love and our faith does not remain a pious promise carelessly pronounced. Our prayer should be true and make crumble the walls of a closed world that promotes injustice, violence, lies, misery, grudges, pride, selfishness and hatred...

We wish to express our faith through acts of service to the Community. Know that the Lord says with Paul: "I may have all the faith to move mountains, I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned, but if I have no love this does me no good». It is the way the Lord invites us not to lag along the way, because He also walks the road of those wounded by life. We should break down our egocentric walls to follow him and meet him every day in the hearts of the poorest, of those who suffer and are abandoned, to make room for joy, justice and prosperity for all. And if we stumble, living in a vacuum or spiritual inertia we can repeat the prayer of the Japanese Sisters of Mother Theresa: "Lord, when I am hungry, put on my way someone who needs food. When I am thirsty, send me someone who needs warmth. When I am wounded, send me someone who needs to be consoled. When my cross is heavy, let me share the cross of another. When I am poor, send me someone in need. When I have no time, send me someone who needs help immediately. When I am humbled, give me someone who needs to be praised. When I am discouraged, send me someone who needs encouragement. When I need understanding from others, send me someone who needs mine. When I need others to take care of me, send me someone who needs my care. When I think only of myself, turn my thoughts towards others."

Sisters and brothers, let us search for true love that will never cease, love that is for us, for the world and may justice reign among all peoples. That is a living faith. AMEN!

Sylvie and Claire are worthy daughters of Mother Elisabeth.

I think these Associates express a very significant moment despite the departure of Sr. Jeanne d'Arc Duguay and me in June 2012 after  twenty-six years of pastoral presence.
