THE EXPERIENCE OF ACCOMPANYING A CATECHUMEN

_muriel.jpgOver a few years, I have been accompanying a catechumen.  I am happy to share the experience with you.

September 2011, I met Annie, a 31 year old mother who is a physiotherapist for handicapped children. She shared with me that she would never want to do anything else; "I want to help others".

After the birth of her baby she asked the Church to receive the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation. At that time, she wanted to have her child Baptized. She wished that he grow up in the Christian faith. That was her reason. While she was a catechumen, I met with her every week and we progressed together. In faith, we shared the Word of God, times of prayers, searching for answers to her questions, experienced times for forgiveness and life. We laughed together and developed moments of friendship.

I go with Annie once a month to catechism classes given at the "Centre Diocesain"  (the Diocesan Center). She discovered her love for prayer. She also found out that God is Love and He is the source of the love a mother has in her heart. She discovered that is why she dedicates herself to little ones, the poor.

It was a great joy for me to be with her during this time! It is a gift of God which helps me grow in faith; witness the action of the Holy Spirit and that of the Resurrected Christ.  I continue to live this beautiful adventure.

Annie received the Sacraments of the Eucharish and Confirmation May 27, 2012. Bishop Lionel Gendron, Bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueil conferred the Sacraments and her husband was her "godfather". She gave birth to Baby Alexis and he has opened his mother's heart to Life.

My joy in this adventure is my greatest reward!
