A PAGE IN HISTORY
2010-08-23

June 20, 2010. A moving celebration closed a page in our history of one hundred nine years, written by two hundred and twenty-two Sisters of the Holy Rosary who bore the tender and loving care of Jesus and Mary, in the town of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Quebec. They had imitated their Foundress, Elisabeth Turgeon.

That Sunday, former students, present parishioners, Sisters of the Holy Rosary, both past teachers and sisters who were from the parish, spent a day giving thanks with vivid emotions.

We cite a poem of gratitude written by MISUPA, the pen name of Mr. Henri Roy, one of the first students taught by the Religious. It is a language of kindness as were the words spoken during the celebration.

It is in a sanctuary
That a drop of history
Of the Sisters of the Holy Rosary
Awakened memories...

They came, these angels, without purse or money
Giving of themselves in exchange for a poor wooden home,
And an old chicken's coop, open to the four winds,
Where they loved to pray and smile to the children.

These sisters had learned what it is to be without,
What charity was and for which they paid the price.

steannedesmonts2.jpgFor them, these virtues written in their hearts sufficed,
For with them they could attain their goal.
The love of the rosary,
Praise and confidence in Mary
Shared in an isolated region on the Gaspe Coast.

They knew how to give and how to work,
They knew trust in providence and especially how to forget themselves.
Lay Sisters and Teachers, I remember you.
And you are with me when I am on my knees.
